Hello,

I installed Trisquel 5.0 Mini and when I choose any Openbox session (Gnome/Openbox or just Openbox) it tries login, screen goes black for a few seconds, but bounces back to the login screen. I checked the Issues page to see if this is covered and couldn't find anything.

Does someone have a fix for this? I'd like to play w/ Openbox.

Thanks in advance!

What steps did you follow. I have a fresh install of Trisquel mini in a virtual machine. I could try to replicate it if you tell me what did you did. I don't know anything about openbox is why I ask.

I.E. Did you
1) Install Trisquel mini
2) Install some package
3) Try to switch desktop environments (and it glitches out here)

I have the same issue with the GNOME/Openbox session, but I've had this issue on other distros in the past too. However, the normal Openbox session (when installed with LXDE or separately) does work for me. I wouldn't expect GNOME/Openbox to work on an LXDE install anyway, though it has in the past failed for me even when I did have GNOME installed on other distros. I didn't worry about it because for me GNOME+Openbox defeats the purpose of Openbox.

SirGrant, when you get to the login screen on Mini click on the "Desktop" dropdown in the bottom left, then choose "GNOME/Openbox" and "Openbox Session". I have also installed it in a VM now and on the first login/boot, without any additional installations or updates, GNOME/Openbox fails as described, but Openbox sessions does not.

And if you go to /usr/share/xsessions/ and cat the openbox file, what do you get?

That kind of behavior occurs if the executable is not there.

I was able to log in an Openbox session by going to the default setup (Trisquel Mini) and clicking Openbox from the menu, logging out, then logging in choosing Openbox. I've been able to log in several times since.

I tried logging into an Openbox/Gnome session and am unable to do so.

I'm wondering what kind of executable is needed for the Openbox/Gnome session.
