That's exactly it, a co worker (same position) usually jumps in when somebody comes by and asks a question to me. How do you think I should handle that? I want to be as professional as possible.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi, if I was you, first, let him know very well which is stronger. If he is not a too... something to be able not to understand things well, he would obey you. If he is so, how about punching out him like a professional fighter, directly, manlikely? If the one was a woman or a girl kind man who likes "I call the police!", you would have to prepare a honey pot or something to ruin him. See Thousand Platos.

Well, that's complicated...
I very much doubt this co-worker is a person easy to handle.
Couldn't you speak to your boss about it? Maybe human resources?

I talked to my boss today and he said that I could let him know. I also talked to a couple of friends at work that said this is a complicated topic. So I guess, at the end of the day, what I'll do is just letting him know that way of getting into conversation is rude.

Be very wary about the way you approach him.
Try to beat around the bush a little bit before entering the gist of it. Maybe talk to him about some other thing during the lunch and gently let the topic slide in... Pretend you have this problem with a imaginary cousin or a friend:

"...oh I have this very rude and poorly educated friend of mine who can't stay silence for a goddamn minute and is always intruding into people's conversation..."

Be warned: No matter how gentle you are or sweet talking you do, he might notice you are talking about him and this might very well evolve into a catastrophic scenario.

Probably the one would be extremely persistent. So you would be able to take advantage of the habit or a talent like a prediction. Men's stubbornness, so-called, by especially beautiful... women.

That's a bad habit that some people have (you are not alone!).
I would maybe try to have some other co-worker who you know also shares the same view as you ask you something and after your rude co-worker replies, both say that it is between the two of you. That way it's 2 persons stating the same and you won't get single sided.

Hey GNUser,

That is actually a great idea.

Thank you

No no. That meant every man has the same habit because we are men but it can be bad or good.
Some men are persistent to achieve their good dreams but some's ones seem to be harmful, etc.
Anyway, the solution seems a peaceful clever way, also a bit round about, though.

Hi, after all, what happened in the end, with this thing? just out of curiosity as an answerer.
