Hi guys, I'm wondering if any of you freedom lovers have become acquainted with the open-source, decentralized social network known as Diaspora? I've been on identi.ca in the past but I'm not a fan of Twitter-like services whereas Diaspora fits the bill being very similar to Google Plus. I thought it would be cool if more like-minded people joined the site as well as Trisquel itself.

www.diasp.org or www.joindiaspora.com to join.

I'm lurking on Diaspora for several months already (same username). There are a lot of interesting news about free software and GNU/Linux.

I didn't find a lot to do there besides reading news, but there seems to be a picture sharing service that you can use to share photos with friends. Never used that though.

You can also add friends and PM them of course, or fill out some forms about yourself. Diaspora is in quite an early stage right now and in need of heavy funding, I'm afraid they won't make it without a lot of donations or some different kind of funding.
