Just want to know... Does anyone actually use xchat?
It seems to hardly be maintained, though a new release has been made recently, though prior to that for the last couple of years the updates all seemed to be focused around Windows.

I use XChat, and so do most of the people on our IRC program, unless some of them are using a different one.
Frankly, XChat is the kind of software that doesn't need to be updated very often. It is already full of features for IRC chatting and seems very stable and bug-free.
One update that would be very nice, and patches have been available for years but never implemented, is true transparency, as seen here.
Well I use XChat-GNOME, which has a nicer GNOMEier interface to XChat, but it's a great program. I think.
