To All!

I'm in Shanghai and attempting to download the mandarin language package (simplified) from the Language Support center, but each time I attempt the download, it tells me that my internet connection isn't working.

I know I have internet connection, since I'm sending this post etc...

Is there another place where I can download the package and then install it manually bypassing the language support?

many thanks

You had better solve the problem.

Does the "Update Manager" properly work? If not, there probably is something wrong with your "Software sources" (the name of the utility to manage them). Maybe you use a mirror that does not work (anymore). Can you show us the content of /etc/apt/sources.list?

Thank you for your reply.

I thought I had already updated everything in the update manager, but when I looked, I had many more programs that needed updating. After doing that, I went back to language support and was able to load the Chinese Mandarin package.

My next question is, how do I change the input method for my keyboard!

IBus is part of Trisquel's default install. However, I do not if the specific input method you wish is installed (m17n is). You may want to search "ibus" in the "Synaptic package manager".
