I want to automatically mount and make available for use my two external USB drives. When I have them plugged in, I see them visible in the sidebar of my file browser but they are unmounted unless I click on them.

I tried using the "Disks" app to make them automatically mount, but this doesn't seem to work. After rebooting I get a message to press "S" to skip past these drives that won't automatically mount.

I know I can get them to automatically mount by editing the "fstab", however, this compuater is a laptop that is sometimes connected to the external USB drives and sometimes not.

Should I be setting something up where I get the USB drives to automount using my ".profile"? How do I do this?

I think that the package "usbmount" should do the work for you. I have found it in Trisquel 8 repo.

I'm using Trisquel 7 now ... I have used usbmount before, but I felt it was kinda weird. The way it works is it gives you soome usb1 through x "slots" and you can plugin to those. I guess, if thats the only option, then I will have another look at it and see if I can make it less weird to use.
