Goodbye Trisquel

Hi,
I left Trisquel. I had been constantly using Trisquel since version 5.0 as my primary operating system but now I feel that it is not my type. My conclusion was that users have no power and everything is done in background. Linux and GNU have thought me that we should *develop together* not *use together*. Anyway, I respect the governance of this distro, but abandoning it is the best option for me.
Now I am enjoying Debian more than ever.
Debian? so what's the diference? Debian isn't endorsed by FSF yes. But i find more easy to use Triquel.
WHAT is Debian?
The Debian Project is an association of individuals who have made common cause to create a free operating system. This operating system that we have created is called Debian.
An operating system is the set of basic programs and utilities that make your computer run. At the core of an operating system is the kernel. The kernel is the most fundamental program on the computer and does all the basic housekeeping and lets you start other programs.
Debian systems currently use the Linux kernel or the FreeBSD kernel. Linux is a piece of software started by Linus Torvalds and supported by thousands of programmers worldwide. FreeBSD is an operating system including a kernel and other software.
However, work is in progress to provide Debian for other kernels, primarily for the Hurd. The Hurd is a collection of servers that run on top of a microkernel (such as Mach) to implement different features. The Hurd is free software produced by the GNU project.

Is funny, Debian is been around for a long time, even before Ubuntu and this new trisquel 7.0 crapper...
Yes, Debian is friendly to use and very well documented, than Trisquel crapy paperwork.....
Yes! it is not endorsed by FSF, because Debian is holding repositories of Proprietary code programs, which is against the FSF rules.
Yet, is your decision to use them or stay away from them.
At least is my choice and not one developer deciding for you....
Still, I don't care anymore, what FSF has to say, about Debian.
But remember this:
Without Debian, the whole universe of GNU/Linux would collapse into dismay and every one under Linux, would be pushing daisies of the past.
That includes Microsoft satellite communist state of mind.
In the other hand,
Debian has a lot more options and solutions, such as; other drivers, programs, either free or proprietary, that would work for your PC.
Specially, when your life is on a budget and you cant afford to purchase new hardware for your old or new PC. Basically, your are under economically under privileged.
Your OSI is Not GOVERN rigidly by any specific rules or protocols of any developer or federation, Example: GNU/DISTROS UNDER the sponsorship of FSF,
You could do what ever you please to do without questions or remorse.
No OSI is perfect, but at least, you will put Your hands and mind into something that works better and it is not a Duplicate...
Thank you for at least telling us. If you read the relevant part of wikipedia [1] you'll see this is intended to be a friendly statement.
Sorry to read that but you do know that there has been a post from Ruben answering some of your concerns, don't you? Here it is: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/long-term-sustainability-trisquel-what-if-we-lose-core-developers in case you missed it. Would be nice to have you on our boat again. :-)

Er, no.
Without Debian things would look a lot different, but - Debian is neither the oldest distro, nor the sole domain of freedom loving developers.
A problem with GNU/Linux is the tendency for users to end up thinking silly things like "wow, my distro is the root of all that is cool and good". If you used Debian for a while and then *buntu and then Trisquel, you forget that other distros exist - Slackware is going strong, as are the Fedora/SuSE/Mageia families. If you desire to use 100% libre software you're not restricted to Trisquel or Gnewsense.
'Debian is neither the oldest distro'
But the oldest one with a significant userbase.
'nor the sole domain of freedom loving developers.'
That depends on what you call 'freedom loving'. However, it is the only big distro which can be used in freedom, offering a 100% free repository.
To be awfully, annoyingly (sorry) exact GnewSense pretty much counts as a copy of one of its editions and Trisquel not too far from being that, and Arch (to which Parabola is tagged in very much the same way, I think) isn't exactly small.....:)
'To be awfully, annoyingly (sorry) exact GnewSense pretty much counts as a copy of one of its editions and Trisquel not too far from being that'
Yeah, that makes my point. What do you want to express with that besides the fact that debian dominates the free software world?
'Arch (to which Parabola is tagged in very much the same way, I think) isn't exactly small.....:)'
No, Arch isn't exactly small but you can't use it in freedom. You can use parabola but this distro is...right, small!
My point was that debian is the only big free software distro, and everything you said shows just that.
Yes, I do realise that (which is why I wrote sorry - because of how rather pointless the rest of the post was going to be :)
Anyway, install the your-freedom package and I reckon Arch can be used in freedom.
And, personally, I count free 'clones' of big distros as being effectively as big as (and pretty much almost exactly the same as otherwise) whatever was taken from upstream (i.e. GnewSense=Debian 6, Trisquel= Its editions' respective Ubuntu version upstream, Parabola=Arch, BLAG=whatever version of Fedora a version of it is based on, etc)
So in my book Parabola and GnewSense are pretty big - not that I expect anybody to agree with me on such a measure of a distro's size (though I still think it's the most technically relevant way of doing so in terms of which forum pages to search through to solve problems, which distro to enter in the search engine when solving problems/finding out whether something is supported, which Wiki and guides to read, whether a PPA can be used on a particular edition of Trisquel, and more importantly what (versions of) packages are in the repos, etc). For example, I install Parabola by reading the Archwiki, solve problems in GnewSense by searching "XYZ problem debian squeeze", and a Trisquel 7 problem by searching "ZAB problem ubuntu trusty", and it seems to serve me well.

You are right! slackware, has a lot of white hairs, it is one of the oldest one.... early "1993."
Dammed I been rap up with Trisquel, unfortunatly, trisquel was my first official distro ever introduced for almost 2 years. is time to move on to better freedoms.
edit: never mind, see above.
Well, I recommend Gnewsense or Parabola, rather than Debian.
Debian isn't the worst thing ever, at least. It has a non-free repository, though, so be cautious.
Well, Parabola'supdates come a wee bit often.
And if you want Debian 7 you can't go for GnewSense.......(when will they start their Wheezy-based version?)
Not too long ago the big question was "When will they start their Trusty-based version?"
Jest aside, a quick search doesn't reveal anything on the gNewSense mailing lists that describes a future version based off of Wheezy, sadly.
Surely you meant Jaunty/Karmic/Lucid/Maverick/Natty/Oneiric/Precise/Quantal (after which, or maybe after Precise? it became clear they were moving to Debian)/Wheezy?
Anyway, what version of Debian are you using?
Oh, and another (and unrelated) thing: Free Software as defined according to the 4 freedoms isn't about how a project is governed.
I am back :)
I signed up an account here: https://devel.trisquel.info/users/sign_up and did my first contribution.
akfoss: Thank you for the patch, welcome back and merry grav-mass!
