Hey, I’m currently searching for a new graphics card that is running with free drivers, so I can revive my desktop pc. I didn’t use him for a while, because the build in AMD HD7000 will only work with 1920x1080px running proprietary drivers. (at least I think so, because a year ago I didn’t get it to work properly)

Searching h-node I felt lost. I didn’t know what to look for + looking every card up for it’s features on another site is a roundabout way.
On ThinkPenguin I stumbled across the GeForce 8400 GS.

That’s why I’m asking you, can you recommend any graphics card? What cards are you using?
I’d like to use two to three monitors each 1920x1080px, but just for normal desktop usage, no gaming needed (is 3D acceleration necessary for such jobs?). Native support (automatic detection) by Debian and/or Trisquel would be nice.

Thanks for any recommendations!

I wrote a lot about GPU.

Here is one:

Here feature matrix:

Here chips code:

If you want to run blobless, AMD is worst choise. AMD=garbage+furnance+blobs+powerconsumption.

Kepler chips I tested, works everything, but I never tested more than 1 monitor (1920x1080-144hz). But probably would work with more than 1 monitor.
