Welcome Josh to the land of freedom.

Trisquel uses only free (as in freedom) software. It respects you.
Trisquel does not use Unity by default. It has it on its repositories.
Debian is freer than Ubuntu but is designed to be more stable. Debian
still has nonfree software but it is distributed separately.
Nevertheless, it suggests the user that software which is unfair to the
user. Trisquel's objective is not to be nicer and lighter (even though
it is) but to be fair to the user by using only software that provides
freedom.
