How to keep laptop connected to internet even when shut?

Hello!
I've never owned a laptop. One of the reasons why is that I can't stand losing internet connection simply because I want to close my laptop. Is it possible to have my laptop continue to remain in the same exact state as it would be if it were simply "locked screen" but open, even when it's closed?
I want all of my p2p services and Tor and etc. etc. to remain doing its thing, but I don't want to have to keep my laptop screen open all of the time. Is this possible?
If not, how do people tolerate having to lose connection every time they close their computer?
Thanks!
Yes it's possible. You can define the action when closing the lid, e.g. suspend or switch off LCD or even do nothing at all or some user defined thing, could be literally anything.
Just go to trisquel's menu>System Settings>Power, Where it asks you what to do when closing the lip, chose nothing.
Be aware though, some laptops breath trough the keyboard and tend to get very hot when lip is closed, which might burn or damage your laptop. I use to have that problem with my old macbook. Just make sure your's is not one of them. You could for instance search on the web about it, or just check it's temperature with your hand in the bottom while it's been closed for a while. There is also some gnome applets and programs that let you know the temperature of your laptop.
Good luck friend.
