I cannot see easily which layer I am selecting now on Gimp

Because on the layer tab, the selected layer seems not to be obvious. If the status bar is on, I can confirm which the current selected layer is easily but when the pointer is on the picture, there is always something like an explanation of the current selected tool and I cannot erase the explanation, and usually the pointer is on the picture. Sometimes I was drawing on a wrong layer stupidly and somehow I have been trying to set it show the current selected layer for more than 30 minutes stupidly but I cannot make it. On the layer tab, if I can confirm which layer is selected easily, it would be fine though. I am not sure whether I am stupid or the dev is stupid.
See the positions of the pointer. I always wish if I could set (A) (timer) when I take a screenshot with (A).
I started to use MyPaint. I had a few complaints of this software too though. In my opinion the devs are far more considerate of users than GIMP's. At least I can confirm easily which layer I am now selecting. It is a matter of how degree you can consider users' something, not about technique nor fancy functions. Sigh.
So your intention would not be so much understandable for people.
About the composition of your work, let's just say that at least I am very careful not to cut living things by a frame or those things. This is kind of respect, and comes from my special abilities. So I don't care about what other artists think about it very much but that is not your work, originally. You would rather have that kind of respect, like mentioning the initial source and its license of some software. You cut the body of the dolphin without respect, at ease. I would not forget it.
