Ibus frustration

When using ibus, I start typing and the language panel appears in the lower left corner of any window I'm typing in.

Here you can see that I've typed nihao (你好) in the firefox search bar in the upper right, but the language panel that allows me to select different characters appears in the lower left... This is very frustrating.

Does anyone know why this is or how to fix it? I've tried searching online and can't find anything. I'm pretty sure that this doesn't occur with Ubuntu, though I don't have a machine to test it on.

That's not good :(

I don't have the problem you have but iBus doesn't work well for me either.
I reported a bug describing my problem in the issues form for Trisquel. I
think you should do it too.

I use Japanese but I'll see if I can reproduce that behavior with Chinese.

Well, I tested on Ubuntu Karmic and I don't have the problem I have in
Trisquel.

It seems that now I have this problem too for both Japanese and Chinese. The
panel should appear next to the text you're writing.

iBus in Trisquel is very problematic. In my case, some time it doesn't start
at all when I login.

Daemonax, install the following packages, activate iBus and restart your session:

- ibus-gtk
- ibus-m17n

I tested and it solves many problems with iBus, including the one you described.

Awesome, thank you so much! I'll do it right away. Thank you.

These packages are available for installation via Update manager too, so if your system is updated, they may be installed already and you can go ahead and try out iBus again.

I found that just ibus-gtk solved the problems, but anyway thank you
very much.
