Thank you for that link, I'll try it.

Did you do that .ISO?

Why did you select that menu bar style as default?

I know it can be changed, but I think that a Trisquel 7 with XFCE should look as similar as it looks on gnome fallback, wich in my opinion (as a 20 years windows user, who is really acommodate to Win7 default theme) it's great, but it does not have so much applets, sadly.

The .iso was built using the net installer.
There has been a lot of talk in different post about desktops and it is obvious that there a quite a lot of people who would like an alternative.
I believe that the developer should concentrate on one or two distributions but that alternative desktops could be offered by members of the community for others to try.
The website was set up with this in mind and in no way is it intended to detract from the main distributions.
My XFCE desktop is a personnel interpretation and of course you can set it up as you wish.
I would add that if anybody has a desktop they would like added to the website I will be happy to add it.
I will be adding more as I get around to building them.

Aha, well, so, thank you, I'll install your Trisquel 6 XFCE iso, and I'll try to make it the more accurate to Trisquel's default enviroment.

Some screenshots coming soon!

I agree with Heather. Eye candy is overrated, in my opinion.

I've also used fluxbox for many years.

I understand that it might not be the best 'default' WM, especially for Windoze converts. I also understand that people who use Fluxbox for awhile come to appreciate it's power and efficiency. It's rare to find a WM that's equally efficient whether you prefer the mouse or the keyboard as your primary way to interact. I also love the *box's way of configuring text files and then copying them to multiple machines without having to re-configure. Magic!

That being said, as for the main topic I think Xfce would be a fine desktop for the mini. I like it better than LXDE, even though it uses slightly more RAM. I believe it still uses GTK2, so I don't think it's the best choice for the main DE. We want to track with GTK development, right?

I'm going to test out Bodhi Linux and get a feel for Enlightenment. Chances are good I will love it.

Of course, Bodhi doesn't have a policy of only including free software.

Alternatively, you can install the official enlightenment PPA for Ubuntu (ppa:efl/trunk) which works on 6.0. A few modules are missing from it, such as engage (which provides an OSX style dock) and econnman. You should be able to get engage from the unofficial svn PPA (ppa:hannes-janetzek/enlightenment-svn).

One year ago I did some changes on Xubuntu 11.10 to look like Trisquel theme.[1][2]

But I prefer GNOME Shell, I love it. =)
