Is there a libre kernel for netbooks? I installed the regular Trisquel on my netbook and only get about 2 and a half hours of battery life when using XFCE/LXDE (and less when using GNOME). I only have a 3 cell battery but the Windows version apparently gives about 4 hours of battery life (my laptop did not come with Windows pre-installed). Is there any way to increase the battery life by using a lighter kernel perhaps?

Have you taken a look at powertop? It's a program that helps analyze and control your battery power usage.

I installed it and ran it. It does seem to improve battery life by simply disabling some of the netbook's basic functions such as webcamera.
