I'm writing a screenplay and after doing some research, the Courier font is pretty standard at 12pt, but of course I want a libre font that I can embed in a PDF if needed.

Thankfully I found Courier Prime from http://quoteunquoteapps.com/courierprime/ that's under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 meaning I can use to my heart's content and have a really quality font.

If any of you are looking for a libre Courier font, then here you go!

Wow.. thank you so much for sharing this. It's great that there are people making great Free alternatives to omnipresent proprietary fonts.

Yup, and it was released this year so many people could have missed it if they weren't seeking a quality Courier alternative in the past. Especially under a free license so I can embed in PDFs.

I'm very thankful as well for this font since the guidelines for scripts usually state "must be 12pt Courier" when submitted.

You always find the coolest things. I use (and LOVE) Lato now because of you. Thanks.

This is a great read on the font by the creator:

Are these fonts really free? Courier Prime is released under the OFL (Open Font License, which has this in the preamble: "The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves." (Emphasis added)

It's strange that that condition is in the license when it is so easily rendered useless.
