Anybody here using lightdm as the login manager? I think it looks much better than gdm, except for one thing, a problem that I didn't have on Brigantia by the way: the buttons and menus and square, gray and ugly, as if no good-looking theme had been applied. Anyone experiencing the same problem? If not, have you done anything special to make it look good?

Since GNOME 3.2 the GDM is beautiful[1][2]. In GNOME 3.6 they improve this[3]. The big problem: Trisquel is Ubuntu-based. Trisquel 5.5 and 6 use GDM 3.0.1 by default (it is like the GDM 2). But if you prefer lightdm it is easy to install and change the settings.

Thanks, good to know that the latest versions of gdm look really good.
Hopefully this will trickle down to Trisquel eventually.

I'd love to know how. Every theme I tried is quite ugly compared to
the Unity theme, which is not trivial to just use as a replacement.

As a Fedora user, I can happily confirm the prettiness of GDM in GNOME today. :)
