M$ pushed an update[1] to Windows 11 that is destroying data and SSDs of users.
Windows 11 updates are forced and unavoidable.
Perhaps this breaking SSDs and HDDs update was meant to be for Windows 10 to help Microsoft "facilitate" people to transition to Windows 11 from 10, but somehow they checked the wrong mark and sent it to Windows 11.
Using proprietary software feels soooooooo wrong, I wonder how those people tolerate it? M$ Windows: yikes, not touching that!
ssd's are a totally new technology compared to hard drisk drives, and there are special filesystem types designed just for them to account for the fact, some of those ideas are incorporated into the basic systems most people are using, but it's not an ideal situation. It's not surprising that anything breaks, when the systems become so bloated and convoluted no one can understand them
this is why you will find several angry sys admins on forums around the net persistently reminding people to remember to back up their data. (save it to safe offline storage)
Windows 12 is rumored to take windows 11 to another new level of horrible
I read about the AI trend windows 11 pushed being the model from now on...
How anyone can trust any proprietary os... but especially windows! That's beyond me
Microsoft said for years that windows 10 was going to just be endlessly updated, so odd that there are even talks of "windows 12" now
Also the other day I saw an ad for windows where the selling point was that AI could sift through your files and find them for you... Which is just searching? I can only imagine its useful for people who refuse to name their files but I don't know why someone would rather have Microsoft's AI sift through their files rather than just name them... proprietary software has gotten so absurd these past 5-6 years

It would not force users to buy new computers. From Microsoft's point of view and that of its partners in the hardware market, the significant new feature of Windows 11 is its requirement of a TPMv2 chip. Older machine never satisfy it: the specification of TPMv2 was published less than six years ago, not even two years before the release of Windows 11! From the point of view of almost all the users, that chip is useless. But they cannot stick to Windows 10: it will very soon be even more of a security hazard than it is currently! Although the performance of any hardware bought along the past ten years is far enough for most users, those who do not migrate to GNU/Linux (whatever the reason) are forced to buy new computers, with Windows 11 licenses, which look gratis at first sight, but whose price is bundled with that of the hardware (manufacturers pay Microsoft for the licenses). From the ecological point of view, all that is terrible.
Well yeah, of course its terrible, that's what happens when you give any corporation that sells software with built in malware any power.
Btw, that's not even the worst of it.
Windows 11's snapshotting of everything you do, is the real monster.
Like windows 10 wasn't bad enough right?
And then there's the AI crap microsoft plans to do with windows 11... I am sure you know some of this if not more, but I felt the need to say its worse than even what you said.
In case others especially don't know all of this.
What people see on the surface about microsoft is already alarming, but like an iceberg, it is so much worse underneath.
