New Trisquel ISOs? When???

If we go to download page:
> Trisquel 7.0 LTS Belenos
> Release date: 11/03/2014 - 18:09
Still 2014 ??? This ISO contains a lot of outdated software with known security vulnerabilities.
It requires a ton of updates after a clean install to each machine - what a waste of bandwidth and time!
Trisquel is slowly becoming like Windows 7 SP1 where you need to get a ton of updates after install
@quidam: if you can't release 8.0 yet, why you are not releasing the new 7.1 - 7.2 - 7.3 ISOs like every half year at least?
I just see a constant stream of money coming from generous people to Trisquel project, but with no significant outcome.
Hopefully someone (maybe me?) will put this undeserved stream of donations to end by forking a Trisquel and releasing the new ISOs regularly
Security updates are still coming. Trisquel 7 is based on Ubuntu 14.04, which will receive updates until April 2019.
To waste a minimal bandwidth, choose the NetInstall: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/using-netinstall-image-bootable-usb-drive
Donations cover infrastructures costs, travel fare for LibrePlanet and the USB Keys sent to associate members: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/financial-information
Quidam has not received any stipend since May 2015. He has certainly deserved one though.
If you want to help (rather than complaining that quidam does not work enough), I am pretty sure quidam would be happy to publish a new ISO of Trisquel 7 if you make one.

I want to rebuild it, but a script can't be downloaded! Nobody ran this script for 2 years, and nobody noticed that it silently disappeared from a server. The ancient secret of rebuilding Trisquel is lost, and we will have to wait for eternity until someone rediscovers it :P

Means we need to wait 3 more years for Trisquel 7 SP1

If I need to install Trisquel to several computers, that means I will have to download the same stuff several times with NetInstall - what a waste of time and bandwidth. Also, NetInstall does not provide a LiveCD functionality
> Quidam has not received any stipend since May 2015. He has certainly deserved one though
It probably takes a minimal effort to rebuild a DVD (can't know for sure because a script is not publicly available) but apparently he doesn't truly care about Trisquel to lift a finger
Here's the script: https://devel.trisquel.info/trisquel/makeiso, but it would be better to use something like live-build from Debian. It's probably not that much effort.
quidam has disappeared and it is impossible to contact him (multiple people have tried). Luckily, Trisquel is receiving security updates (except for IceCat) (this is automatic)
> Luckily, Trisquel is receiving security updates (except for IceCat) (this is automatic).
And also IceDove (Thunderbird) is not getting updates anymore. At the moment, the current upstream version in Debian is: 45.3 but in Trisquel it is: 31.2

Yes, it can: https://devel.trisquel.info/trisquel/makeiso/raw/master/makeiso.sh

Because it did not.

If you had spent one minute (is one minute "eternity"?) searching for it on Trisquel's git repository, you would have found it.

No, it does not. It means what it says.
If I need to install Trisquel to several computers, that means I will have to download the same stuff several times with NetInstall - what a waste of time and bandwidth.
After installing Trisquel on a computer, copy /var/cache/apt/archives/ to the other computers (with NetInstalls and maybe SSH clients if you want to grab /var/cache/apt/archives/ this way). You will not have to download them again. If you want the same packages installed, you can use 'dselect' to not specify them one by one.
It probably takes a minimal effort to rebuild a DVD
Do it then.
(can't know for sure because a script is not publicly available)
It is.
but apparently he doesn't truly care about Trisquel to lift a finger
Quidam created Trisquel some ten years ago. He has maintained Trisquel since then.
The only finger *you* have lifted for Trisquel is the middle one. And you apparently considers yourself smart doing so...
What is the whole steps for build a free GNU+Linux System ? Perhaps for one of them I can help or we can help !
''If you want to help (rather than complaining that quidam does not work enough), I am pretty sure quidam would be happy to publish a new ISO of Trisquel 7 if you make one.''
Only if you can contact them but this it not sure !
This also means that Trisquel 8 has been cancelled. Probably have to stick with those Trisquel 7 ISOs from 2014 if you still want to stick around with this project.
Trisquel really loses its appeal when you can do about the same with Debian (don't enable non-free) or go with Parabola if you are familiar with Arch. Ubuntu is already going to release their next version (16.10) meaning that the Trisquel team needs to pick up the pace.
Ya ya the "you can contribute" canned responses are pretty much how things are. But how can you contribute when the main project leader just disappears and breaks his promises of Freedom Fridays.
Just admit it guys. Trisquel is done.
You have been writing that for six years now. Here is your second post on this forum, already asking for respins of Trisquel 4: https://trisquel.info/fr/forum/respins-and-backports-lts-versions
You now *only* spread FUD on Trisquel, quidam, the FSF, etc. The (complete) list of the threads you started during the last five weeks clearly shows it:
- https://trisquel.info/forum/will-trisquel-8-embrace-snap-packaging-custom-trisquel-specific-applications
- https://trisquel.info/forum/gnu-wont-let-libreboot-leave-ruben-mentioned-again-statement-his-involvement
- https://trisquel.info/forum/libreboot-leaves-fsf-says-fsf-shouldnt-exist-anymore
- https://trisquel.info/forum/trisquel-8-almost-6-months-late-do-something-anything
Please, for once, own up to what you write (that "Trisquel is done") and go away.
I'm just so burned out. Waiting and waiting and nothing happens. No news. Nothing.
Not that what you say just here is true but even if it was then leave. You know where the door is. You stay here because you choose to. If you stay stop complaining. Or leave. You can't have it both ways.
The reality of this project is that people are always waiting and there is no clear communication or roadmap. They are always waiting because some use this OS as the backbone of their everyday use at home and/or at work. It is very important to them.
Some want the latest and greatest and some are just content with old software that is years old. Its nice that the older version of Trisquel is still supported due to the LTS model, but its nice to have something newer. Having Trisquel 8 based off of Ubuntu 16.04 means that the OS is 6 months old software wise, but it is a good start. The packages in it are still very relevant and can be updated with PPAs.
I do admit that this forum provides relevant conversation of free software besides Trisquel and that is great. There just needs to be some progress in getting Trisquel 8 out.
"Some want the latest and greatest"
Parabola exists to fill that goal of living on the bleeding edge but don't change the topic. With regard to you being burned out, if Trisquel is so horrible then leave. I personally am tired of reading your "Trisquel is horrible" and "Trisquel is done" and etc. messages, and it seems you are tired of writing them because you say you're burned out. You know where the door is. There's no need to keep on going on and on about it.
Magique: it amazes me that a bright guy like yourself wastes time and energy on feeding such a troll, can we just ignore him? They usually are like ice, they melt away when you stop providing the cooling.
I see a lot of people have upvoted this post. I can't say I understand why.
The thing is, t3g said exactly the same thing about both Trisquel 6 and Trisquel 7. In fact, both of these also arrived a lot later than some of us were expecting.
I do agree that it would be nice to occasionally make updated ISOs so that not as many updates are needed when you first install the system, but it's really not that big of a problem.
On a side note, regarding Debian, I was a user of Debian for a short while, but it just lacks the popular support Ubuntu has (e.g. from PPAs). So a variant of Ubuntu without proprietary software (which you partially have to manually sift through to avoid it in Ubuntu itself) is very useful for beginners and casual users, even if it's not the latest Ubuntu.
I also think that it would be far better to delay the release of Trisquel 8 a bit so that ARM can be supported by it, and thus make it possible to run it on the EOMA68-A20 computer card, if this is realistic. After all, we have a year and a half before the Ubuntu release that Trisquel 9 is going to be based on comes out, and a year after that before Trisquel 7 loses support. Getting Trisquel 8 out now is simply not urgent. Heck, Trisquel 8 could even be skipped (or re-based on Ubuntu 18.04) if necessary and that would cause little hardship, since it would still leave a year-long buffer. But if Trisquel ran on EOMA68 computers, that would make them far easier to use for beginners (Parabola is really not meant for casual users, Debian is not GNU FSDG and not quite as easy for beginners as Ubuntu), and that would be really helpful.
Why not have a Trisquel Roadmap ?
No a Roadmap is like a ''goals set in time""or a given time"
(des but a atteindrent dans un temps voulu)
like :
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/RoadMap
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/25/Schedule?rd=Schedule
ex:
[Change Checkpoint: Proposal submission deadline (System Wide Changes)]...
[2016-08-09 Alpha Freeze (*)]
[Software String Freeze]
etc..
If someone complaining about Trisquel, why not to install Parabola? it's rolling release, and have more than great package support, +latest packages version.
