The bluetooth will almost certainly need a proprietary firmware.

I was reading last night that there's a project that will provides libre Bluetooth functions for that chip. It is called mynewt-core
(gitHub.com/apache/mynewt-core)

Mynewt uses an open source Bluetooth 5.0 stack of its own design called NimBLE. Mynewt and NimBLE are both licensed under Apache 2, which FSF says is GPL 3 compatible.
