Wow! Two days and no posts in the English section... I am looking for a portable music player and wonder what experience or recommendations other users have for players that work well with Trisquel. I could probably find info on the internet, but I would like to get feedback from actual Trisquel users. Thanks.

While someone answers, would you mind posting the information you found
interesting?

Of what you have found by searching. You have not done any searching? I
don't think many people will help if you don't want to help yourself. I hope
I am wrong and ask for dismissal.

I thought that was your question but wanted to make sure. I do search the internet first when I need information, and I did find some information on Xiph.org about players that support Ogg formats although I don't know what non-free software, if any, is required for the interface between the player and the OS. Because Trisquel does not include any of the non-free firmware or blobs, and this may affect how well players interact, I am trying to find out what experience actual Trisquel users have with different players. This is more of a survey than asking technical help.

I use a Cowon D2 (its linux-based), but my previous experience was that Trisquel didn't do a great job on MTP support - I even posted on here about it:

Using sychronisation with something like Rhythmbox always seemed to be painfully slow, as I prefer just dragging and dropping folders.

The best way is to purchase a player online that supports Rockbox firmware, and install Rockbox on that player. That way you get a portable player with great features, and it is fully libre.

If we have issues with MTP support, I doubt Ubuntu is exempt from the same problems.

Most interesting. I was actually wondering whether there would be some program to run a player and be able to play free formats. Unfortunately mine is a Creative Zen, so I will have to wait until they make it work on it.

Thanks for the information. I'll start with the list of supported devices they have.
