Problem installing RIOT

When trying to install RIOT I encounter the same issue as LaurantM (apparently - I don't really speak French): https://trisquel.info/en/forum/probl%C3%A8me-install-riot
When following the instructions at https://riot.im/download/desktop/ I get:
~$ sudo apt update
Hit:1 http://es.archive.trisquel.info/trisquel flidas InRelease
Hit:2 http://es.archive.trisquel.info/trisquel flidas-security InRelease
Hit:3 http://es.archive.trisquel.info/trisquel flidas-updates InRelease
Ign:4 https://packages.riot.im/debian flidas InRelease
Err:5 https://packages.riot.im/debian flidas Release

In response to LaurantM MagicBanana's seems to be advising to go via https://packages.riot.im/debian. I have tried that but seems to fail. I have downloaded .asc .gpg and the .deb files via https://packages.riot.im/debian/pool/main/r/riot-web/ (I am by no means sure that that is the right place to download from). Now I am stuck because I can't find answers to how to gpg --verify the riot-web_1.5.9_amd64.deb file.
What am I doing wrong and how can I do it right?
What is "debian flidas"? Try to change "flidas" to a Debian's codename, such as jessie, stretch, buster, etc..
(The Riot official website is inaccessible from China, so I could only guess.)
Thanks, nadebula.1984,
Your question led me to investigate Magic Banana's answer further. The thing is, that 'https://packages.riot.im/debian' doesn't show up in the 'Other software' tab under 'Software and updates' (in Mate's control center. But I realised that I can make the change from 'Flidas' to 'Xenial' in the etc/apt/sources.list.d/riot-list.
Changing from "flidas" to "xenial" doesn't solve the problem either, as "xenial" is Ubuntu's code name, not Debian's.
https://packages.riot.im/debian/dists/xenial/ exists (and https://packages.riot.im/debian/dists/flidas does not): it may solve the problem.
As for the post on the French forum, its real goal was to troll (starting with the screenshots). I am not even sure LaurentM was facing a real problem.
So this is why that post got locked?
However, it's so weird to see a Ubuntu's code name under a directory named debian. I may have changed "flidas" to "stretch" in my first try...

yeah, I was pretty amazed to ses the MS office icons on the mate on trisquel desktop!
