Hi
I'd like to add all the extra repos. I know where to go in synaptic to add them but I'm not sure if they have to be ubunutu repos or if I can use debian, dont know what version, dont know how to format the entry, etc. If anyone has already done that, can you paste your entries please?
A given version of Trisquel only has one repository. If you mean the different sections (security, updates, and backports) of the repository, then click them all in the third tab of "Software & Updates" (in the "System settings").
Trisquel 7 basically has all the free packages that Ubuntu 14.04 has. If you try to add Ubuntu/Debian repositories, you will most likely break your system for no additional free software.
I'd like to add non-free from ubuntu and maybe some other stuff. Has anyone tried it?
Why would you want to do that? If you're just going to add back in the proprietary software removed by Trisquel, you might as well use Ubuntu itself.
dontazeme - that doesn't make any sense..
I didn't pick trisquel for that reason.
why did you pick trisquel?
Sorry but you would have to find that elsewhere, since we don't recommend nor assist installation/use of non-free software.
Why? Please don't think that we just don't want to help you, we just think that non-free software is harmful, therefore helping you installing non-free software is not really a "help".
no problem.
The reason was I wanted a smallish linux that used debian. Trisquel ended up winning till now.
Have you tried running plain old Debian? It's not very large (or resource hungry) at all. It's also libre by default.
