There are new images in http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/

Sure they are in an early development stage, but I'll try this as soon as posible.

Thanks for letting us know about it. I'll use it and try to report its issues.

Thanks for letting us know of the Trisquel 7 images! I grabbed the 32-bit and tried running it from a usb key. The system seems to boot, though the only sound I get is a single pop in my speaker. Once the system is running, I can go to another console and type commands; one such I tried was
espeak hello

to try getting some speech. Nothing. I tried, in this console, to install gnome-orca and its dependencies, while machine was plugged into a wired connection. I'm not sure anything happened. From this other console, I could issue

sudo shutdown -h now

and the system halted, so I know I was at the command prompt. I'll just wait for later images.

The GRUB Background on i686 CD still says Trisquel 6 ;)
both "Try Trisquel GNU/Linux" and "Install Trisquel GNU/Linux" open the same live system ..

.. which doesn't have an installer :(

-I prefer to have the Live system and be able to install from that env. several situations comes into my mind:
:one has to try out first and see if his/her system run on fully Free Software
:partitioning with a graphical interface
:diagnosis or backup before install

I'm trying the installer on a laptop w/ non-free GPU.
-having a non-free videocard renders problem with "Install Trisquel GNU/Linux in text-mode". However, hitting "Other Options", escape and then removing "vga=" and "quiet" (to see errors) statements it seems to boot okay.

The installer nags "error while running 'modprobe -v yenta_socket'. it doesn't find network interfaces either - it's an Intel 52753L (e1000?), and then I'm stuck with it asking for network mirror.

Will one be able to upgrade from the pre-release to 7.0-stable?

Will 7.0 allow for full disk encryption?

The Ubiquity installer in recent versions of Ubuntu, including Ubuntu
14.04, does include the option to do full disk encryption.

By the way, these images are only for developing Belenos.

Ugh... that bottom panel is still ugly as hell. Doesn't the fallback mode in Gnome 3.10 give you more options? I'm still missing the transparency in older versions of the OS. Why not just use Cinnamon?

It's too early, I don't think that the Trisquel development team have started on the theming aspect of its GUI.

But I love the fact that we are impatient to see how the next version of Trisquel will be.

Hi Everyone,

Loving the progress of Trisquel these days. It runs very beautifully on my Acer Aspire E1-570. Thank you to all involved!

I would like to do an upgrade to Trisquel 7 from Trisquel 6 without doing a fresh install. Is this possible at this time? And if so, what commands should one type and what actions should one take?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

It's not recommended at the moment. Last time I checked Abrowser wasn't
yet available, and same for a lot of other packages.

When Trisquel 7 is ready you will be able to run these commands:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo do-release-upgrade -d

Hi Andrew,

Thanks very much. I appreciate the info! Can't do much without a browser! :-O

If one was to be mad and upgrade now would you simply change 'toutatis' in the sources.list file to 'belenos' and then enter the above commands?

'do-release-upgrade' does that. By the way, for a graphical update to the devel version, run:
$ sudo update-manager -d

I wonder if the Croscore fonts are installed and used by default instead of Liberation as they are better

Is it a GUI-less console environment ISO? I'd like to grab it just in case it disappears and we're left with either full-featured GUI ISOs or Netinstalls!

Hi again,

Thanks Magic Banana, that command is handy to know.

Really looking forward to Trisquel 7.

Keep up the great work everyone!
