Trisquel v7 - where is my unity?

Upgraded from v6 to v7.
Now Gnome is the deskop mngr. and I used Unity on v6.
Do I need to install Unity again and if yes - how? Previous apt-get install unity-2d does not work.

If you have problems, please provide more detail above and beyond it "doesn't work." :)
A list of packages does not help an average user :)
FYI: All I have done previous is to press the "upgrade" (distro) button in the package manager.
Here is what I see...:
abjectio@antestor:~$ sudo apt-get install unity-2d
Reading package lists... Done

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
unity-2d : Depends: unity but it is not going to be installed

If you run the Synaptic package manager and check out the broken packages (under "custom filters", a button in the lower-left corner of the window), you may identify package that are raising troubles in your system.
This should be fixed now. Reload your lists. (With some mirrors it can take a while to be fixed)
Ok - will wait for a while. Does not work yet - My packages are retrieved from - fr.archive.trisquel.info
Unity 2D is gone as of Ubuntu Trusty.
unity!!?? are you for real? lol
It ain't that bad! I had it onone of my Trisquel installations for a few months!
It is great with freedom - Isn't it ? :) I think unity suites me ok, because I'm not that familiar with linux on the desktop.
Since compiz was added to the repos I was able to install unity but it is not possible to choose it in lightdm.
In Trisquel 6 installing gnome-session did the trick. Try that.
Installing it adds "GNOME" entry to lightdm. Choosing it doesn't start any DE if gnome-shell is not installed. If it is, then it just starts that.
I think what you probably need is ubuntu-session.
Judging by the ubuntu-session package description it indeed seems like the missing piece. However installing it didn't add anything in the lightdm menu. Running dpkg-query -L ubuntu-session
shows that there are only documentation files included in the package, but no .desktop or .session files (or any other files outside /usr/share/doc) that could have any impact.
I've cheked it on a virtual machine; quidam have repaired it.
Wait a sec... I can install Unity in Trisquel 7??? I know in the past it would be broken but if you say it now works, I may give it a try!
I'm pretty sure it was never broken (it's just that you needed to configure compiz before getting Unity to work - what was called the "Unity Session" was really the "Compiz Session", except that in (vanilla) Ubuntu user directories are given config files by default that tell compiz to use the needed plugins (unity, expo, decoration, etc).
Or at least that's what I think.
Edit: you mean broken in 7 but not in 6? Never mind, then.
It is possible to install unity in Trisquel 7 (and run it from terminal), but not to choose it in lightdm at login to actually use it as a standard DE. Therefore I consider it broken at the moment.
Yeah, I don't see Unity in the lightdm login either. I even installed GDM and Unity did not show up there either. What seems to be the issue preventing this in Trisquel?
We should report it as a bug.
akfoss already did https://trisquel.info/en/issues/12671
I'm using gnome-shell but I am installing unity just to see if I can. I find no reason not to be able to do so. I believe we can even install unity- 8 with mir.
Update :- Same results; installed unity and ubuntu-session but unity is not listed in the sessions list. You may manually edit the session lists but that will involve a little use of terminal.
