Hello,

I've tried using a USB drive and a DVD (that I know works, I used it on another computer), but my UEFI isn't showing the option to boot from them in the F2 menu at boot. What can I do?

Thank you.

This is a new laptop that came with spyOS 10 preinstalled, yes?

You will need to disable secure boot. You might also need to disable "fast startup" inside win$.

Uefi, from the ancient african word "ueefji" meaning "preventing installation of anything non10 is our only purpose" :)

The thing is that this ASUS laptop came with Windows 8.1 and secure boot and fast startup are disabled, but it still isn't detecting the Trisquel 7 DVD at boot. I could install several other Linux ditros here, from Ubuntu to Solus to Fedora, to openSUSE, but it won't detect Trisquel. BTW it didn't detect Lubuntu either...

Did you try the netinstall image, too? It might just work. Also, try installing with dd from an USB drive like so if the netinstall image doesn't work on the dvd: dd if=/path/to/trisquel.iso of=/dev/sdX where X is the letter of the USB drive.

Anyway, good luck!

I re-did it with dd and it still isn't being recognized...

As far as I can tell the Trisquel installation medium is mbr-only. Does your laptop support legacy mode?

No, not this one, but my home laptop does...

You could try it on your home laptop to confirm my suspicion. If I'm right I think your only choice is to wait for trisquel 8.
