Using BOINC on Trisquel

Does anyone know if it is possible to run BOINC on Trisquel? I tried downloading the BOINC client to my computer but the program locked up when I tried to run it. I don't know if BOINC is free software but it is one I will make an exception for, it is a program that allows users to donate computer time to various goodwill computing projects, things like cancer research, astronomy projects, third world country science projects to make life better for others and the like and I used it once but there was some controversy over privacy so I quit using it but I'm sure they've cleared that problem up by now. I tried downloading the BOINC Linux client and running it but it locked up on my machine. I realize the project administrator for Trisquel has his hands full right now but this would be one Linux program that I would deviate from the free software standard for as it is for a noble goal assuming you pick the right science projects to donate to. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get BOINC running on my machine I would appreciate. It runs on Windows, Apple as well as Linux and they have separate downloads for each. The program is an .sh file so perhaps I would need to compile it but I'm not sure how to do that. If anyone could offer any helpful tips I'd appreciate it.

BOINC is in the repos. I have never run it so I don't know much about it. Try installing the client from the repositories.

Trisquel wouldn't. Freedom is Trisquel's raison d'être.

Which BOINC project do you think is worth supporting?

I installed it and for me it runs well...
And it's free software, no problem with it

Whereas boinc itself is free software, the actual apps it downloads are proprietary for most projects... :/
