VSCode Alternative

Greetings,

I am looking for an alternative in Free Software to VSCode. I am trying to become more familiar with Free Software in my day-to-day activities, however editors like Vim or Emacs still hurt my head.

Has anyone here used the seemingly FOSS version, Codium?

I use VSCodium and Vim. VSCodium is is the VSCode version free of Micr*soft telemetry. Its work fine. Most plugins are used without any problems.

If you want to try something similar, Eclipse is popular and in Trisquel's repository.

@bozkurtovski good to know, thanks for the response! I've installed it and had a quick look around, seems the same minus telemtry. Note that the official addons are missing as well, not sure what they would normally be licenced under from the vendor?

Hi @joshaspinall I had a similar question to you about a free version of VSCode and was also planning on trying VSCodium. I'm just wondering how you installed it? I've heard Snap is not recommended because they suggest installing propriety software. Thank you :)

Thank you so much @jlb :) sorry for being a complete noob I'm still getting to grips with Trisquel having using windows/mac all of my life.
