Wiki page:
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installation-guide
I am surprised that the page "Installation Troubleshooting" does not exist (I think it may be a useful page).
It has never be created or the link is dead ?
The link works fine here: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installation-troubleshooting
Thank you Pizzailo, there is a issue in the wiki:
Pages:
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installation-guide
https://trisquel.info/de/wiki/installationsanleitung
Does link to (dead link):
https://trisquel.info/wiki/Installation_Troubleshooting
Italian page link to a (italian) dead link too:
https://trisquel.info/it/wiki/guida-allinstallazione
(I think it should be redirected to english instead of a empty italian page)
I translate in italian from time to time and am aware of the issue. I bumped into several links that don't work. Someone really needs to fix this. This is an excellent example->
go to https://trisquel.info/it/wiki/guida-allinstallazione
from there any link I click on directs to an empty page and that is because of the en part of the link - it should be it
example: the first link directs to empty https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/Masterizzare_le_immagini_CD_di_Trisquel
it should be https://trisquel.info/it/wiki/Masterizzare_le_immagini_CD_di_Trisquel
I don't know how to fix this. If someone explains how to - I am willing to fix all the links I bump into!
cheers!
I have tried without success tips that I use on Wikipedia, then found this documentation: https://trisquel.info/en/filter/tips
I think that the issue (prefix "en:" don't work) comes from the fact that the Wiki is installed like this:
http://trisquel.info/en/wiki/
http://trisquel.info/fr/wiki/
http://trisquel.info/it/wiki/
While it should be like that to let inter languages wikilinks work:
http://trisquel.info/wiki/en/
http://trisquel.info/wiki/fr/
http://trisquel.info/wiki/it/
I could not manage to make work the following wikilinks : [[Installation Troubleshooting]] (nor "[[installation-troubleshooting]]" nor "[[en:installation-troubleshooting]]" nor "[[:en:installation-troubleshooting]]").
To repair https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installation-guide
I used this (non wiki-friendly) direct link:
* [https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installation-troubleshooting Installation Troubleshooting]
Until someone gives maybe some help.
I actually requested this feature more than two years ago: https://trisquel.info/issues/7542
I believe the conversation had better happen there if you want the development team to read it.
Banana Magique - the issue is not that non-English users are not redirected to English when there is no doc in their mother language.
The issue I am talking about and that affects the Italian docs is that many links on the Ita wiki (https://trisquel.info/it/wiki) point to a inexistent page because the url is wrong (it contains an "en" rather than "it") -> example
trisquel.info/en/wiki/Installare_Trisquel
should direct to
trisquel.info/it/wiki/Installare_Trisquel
Another example is https://trisquel.info/it/wiki/media
Take the first link..
This one doesn't point to an inexistent page. It redirects the user to the English page, but it really shouldn't, being that the Italian page exists!!!
The two links under "Video" both point to a inexistent page because of the en / it issue as previously explained.
I think this needs some fixing - The first link I provided is "Installare Trisquel", that is the guide on how to install Trisquel. Now, imagine an Italian dude who comes here, doesn't speak a word of English (a lot of Italians) and clicks on that link.. He will think the documentation is awful and that is not the case..
I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding. You should probably open a new "feature request" that combines what you ask for with what I ask for: "when the a link does not specify a language search for a page in the language of the session; if it does not exists, show the English version".
opened a feature request.
p.s - again, I am willing to fix all the links I find not to work. I don't know how to do that though.
I am updating the page "Cos'è Trisquel" and "Tutti i manuali" on the Italian Wiki. You can help me test if they work when I'm done. To make them work we have to update the translation from the English wiki because some links have changed with the new Trisquel release. I think it's because "Tutti i manuali" is quite outdated.
sure I'll help Forna!
