I ordered a Penguin Wireless G USB Adapter for GNU / Linux on Oct 22 from

https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/penguin-wireless-g-usb-adapter

And it arrived today. It works out of box immediately.

There is only free software and free data in my laptop hard disk. I had to use Ethernet cable to use internet. Now it is much better to have wireless connection!

I'd like to share the joy with you!

That is fantastic.

I'm really glad that you are now able to use wireless in freedom. :-)

Please, could you tell me if your internet connection is close as good as with the cable connection?

Thank you.

No.

The wireless connection is slower than the cable connection. But it is good enough.

I had used other wireless connection as well. It seemed always that the cable connection is faster.

USB G may be a bottleneck for some depending on the Internet connection available. Despite this most will still get a decent connection. The USB N adapters will be supported soon enough...

You can install a kernel from Jason's repository (jxself.org/linux-libre) and firmware manually and its not too difficult (http://jxself.org/ath9k-htc/). You should also be able to install the 3.5 kernel from the main Trisquel repository and download the firmware manually as well.

* I think taking the 3.11 linux-libre kernel from Jason's repository is probably the best idea though. I don't think I was ever too happy with the 3.5 release. There are various bugs which can cause problems with some (many) USB devices (on some computers).
