I tried to install yacy sofware in synaptic, but I cannot find it... Is it free and open? totally

According to http://www.yacy.net :
[ http://www.yacy.net/release/yacy_v1.92_20161226_9000.tar.gz is a ] Generic package for all systems. Decompress, run the start script and open http://localhost:8090. This needs a OpenJDK7 runtime environment.
"openjdk-7-jre-headless", in the repository, should be enough for "a OpenJDK7 runtime environment".

I used it for a while, it is a good concept but I didn't like having it running in the background at all times. The search results weren't great either. You should try it for yourself and see how you like it.
