Abrowser secure page problems

I've recently done updates on my system and abrowser 30 was one of the updates. Since then I'm having problems trying to access an online bank account. The support group with the bank is of little help.

The other secure page that doesn't seem to work anymore is the one for webmin. When I try to login to webmin I get a security error. I've listed it below:

Security Warning
Warning! Webmin has detected that the program https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:10000/right.cgi?open=system&open=status was linked to from an unknown URL, which appears to be outside the Webmin server. This may be an attempt to trick your server into executing a dangerous command.

Two other things to note. I have this problem on the windows build of Firefox 30 but not on the GNU/Linux Mint Build of Firefox 30.0.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try to create a new/clean profile. A clogged profile is the source of most of the browser related issues.

I should have noted that I have tried that. Also of note is that this is happening on more than one computer. Most secure sites are working just fine. Firefox 29.0 did not have this problem at all. There must be a recent change that triggered this.

I haven't mentioned that version difference is also an important aspect, because you wrote that "I have this problem on the windows build of Firefox 30 but not on the GNU/Linux Mint Build of Firefox 30.0". I personally haven't tried online banking in Abrowser 30 yet, however, you should try to install a different version of the *browser to compare whether it will help or not. Then you should look into the changelog to learn what has been changed between releases, all in order to track down the culprit.

Also, screenshots can be more useful than copy-pastas when showcasing an issue. (_Tip_: Use MediaCrush to upload them)

After searching for the output message, I found that you're using a third-party application called Webmin, which I don't know. According to some reports, it looks that the problem is with this program, and not within the web browser.

I ran across this as well. I suppose that it could be webmin, but something has changed in abrowser. Version 29 worked fine and still does. 30 is the issue. I would just go back to 29 but eventually whatever is causing this should be known or dealt with. If it's a bug we can have it fixed. If it's something that websites need to do differently, at least we can advise them of that.

Well, browser updates may introduce incompatibilities which doesn't necessarily mean that the application is buggy, however, I really doesn't know Webmin at all so I cannot comment on this. Your best bet is (in my opinion) to report the problem directly to the developers and hope that someone will respond, and until the problem gets fixed, revert to an older/working version of the browser (or alternatively try to use a different Webmin version).

What I really don't understand is that how can you have this problem on Trisquel and Windows, while not on Mint. Do you use Webmin on all of your computers?

I figured out a setting in Abrowser that by changing allows access into webmin again. Still no luck on my banking site.

If you go into about:config and change network.http.sendRefererHeader to a value of 2 it allows webmin. I'll try to dig into what the differences there are in the mint build of Firefox 30 and Abrowser 30 to resolve the problem with my bank site.

When I download the official build of Mozilla Firefox(64-bit) for GNU/Linux and run it I am able to login to my bank web site. I am still not able to under windows and I'm not able to in Abrowser. There has to be something specific to the Abrowser build of Firefox that is making it not work. I've also tried Abrowser with extensions disabled.

Can anyone familiar with anything unique in Abrowser chime in on this?

Try turning on third party cookies. They're disabled by default.

I tired after enabling them but didn't work for me.

This didn't have any affect. Is there anything else unique to abrowser?

I have problems with Abrowser 30 too. I cannot log into 'trello.com' directly. And like alucardx's banking site, they worked fine with its previous version. I thought it was a problem with the website since it does not run properly on all web browsers but now even I agree to alucardx's remarks.

This is the error message I get :- 'Request did not come from https://trello.com'.

Did you try changing the referer header like alu?

Referer headers are disabled by default in abrowser 30. There are addons such as RefControl and Referrer Control which you can use for per-site settings. So the only reason this happens is the default settings in Abrowser.

This is not a solution at all. But when complaining about the browser, always restart it without extensions if you use any. Back in the days of Netscape Communicator, that was not an issue. Today it is. And browser plus one extension or plugin means another app.

I had this issue too. Alucardx's solution worked for me. I've quoted the relevant steps:

" ... go into about:config and change network.http.sendRefererHeader to a value of 2 it allows webmin."

I uninstalled and reinstalled Abrowser, using Synaptic, then changed the setting as above. Thanks for posting Alu.

Glad it helped BinaryDigit. After having fixed my problem trying to get to webmin I'm still fighting with my bank website.
