add-apt-repository in Trisquel 8

I'm trying the Trisquel 8 live system, and I notice that add-apt-repository is not available and that any package it could be available in is not in the repos.
I heard the Trisquel devs are doing this on purpose, because PPAs *might* be used to install nonfree software, even though there are hundreds of free software PPAs out there that people need.
Why is add-apt-repository gone?
Trisquel 8 is in Alpha, some packages are not yet available in the repositary.

Bullshit. Where did you hear that?

The author of the video supposes Trisquel's developers choose not to ship 'add-apt-repository'. He is simply wrong. It is a bug to be fixed. And I believe 'sudo apt edit-sources' work and allow to add any repository. Please do not propagate false rumors.
Thanks.
