You can download a disc image from the download page (https://trisquel.info/en/download) and run it as a live CD. Whether it works or not, please submit the results to h-node (http://h-node.org) so others will know how well it works with free software.

I can't make any guarantees, but if the computer has an Intel graphics card, and an Atheros wireless card, it should work.

You'll probably have problem with your wifi on Trisquel but that is conditional upon the specifications. You'd better email them and request the full name and manufacturer of the wireless card. After that, we would be able to answer accurately.

I could then take the wifi card that I have recommended and so would solve the problem with the asus laptop

I have the X200CA, which seems very similar to what you are getting, and works flawlessley with trisquel, minus bluetooth (which I think is useless) Right click requires a little bit of configuration to work, but that is very easy.

I got it quite recently, here is a thread I posted asking people to suggest, which concluded with me getting it.
