Cannot find brightness applet.

I am using Trisquel mini 11, LXDE on Acer Aspire Lite and I cannot find the brightness applet as mentioned here https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/function-keys. How can get it?

That page looks to be about about MATE not LXDE.

Are the brightness up/down function keys not working out of the box?

Nope, none of the function keys are working.

I had to add this to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="" to get the audio function keys working on an Asus Eeepc:
acpi_osi=Linux
It looks like the brightness keys were working out of the box in my case, but adding the above may also help if they are not.
