(Not Trisquel-related. Free software related) Free earphones and headphones?

I post this question here, and pardon me if it is unsuited, hopefully someone can guide me to a better suited forum if that's the case.

Anyway, I'm simply wondering whether or not earphones and headphones contain any software to speak of at all, and if it does, of someone know of any manufacturers make free earphones/headphones?

Cheers

I do not think there is software running in earphones/headphones. Anything you can plug in the phone connector of your computer should work out of the box: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_connector_(audio)

If you are talking about Bluetooth devices, then the Bluetooth chipset in your computer needs software to be functional. Unfortunately, many such chipsets only have proprietary firmware. Rightfully, Trisquel does not ship proprietary firmware with its kernels.

My earbuds have play/pause and volume up/down buttons. I'm sure they
are controlled by firmware, but I don't think it's possible for anybody
to ever change the software, so nobody has unjust power over others like
with proprietary software.
