taskbar clears after updating 6.0

Hey guys, I've did a clean install of Trisquel 6.0 on two computers, and it worked great for both of them, but for both of them getting the gnome updates from the update-manager removed everything from the bottom panel. I've manually re-added the menu, clock, window manager, notification area, etc, but I can't seem to get the volume icon back and was wondering if there were a way to just reset the entire bar to default. Thanks for reading.
Yes - I think you have to delete a directory of gnome preferences from a hidden folder in your home folder; I had to do it for the last upgrade

I found a post that said there were some files under ~/.gnome2/, but I don't see any hidden folders in my home folder. The first time I logged in I was fine, the second time, I am having the same problem now, too. Is there anybody else who might know how to fix this? Thanks in advance :)
my panel lost all manually icons when i added gnome-shell gnome-seesion to Trisquel 6.0 pre-release. the default icons are still there, so its kind of a revert to default here.
Did you tell the file manager to show hidden folders? As the name implies, "hidden" folders are hidden by default in GNOME. :) To show them, you can go to View->Show Hidden Files or press Ctrl+H

Try searching for "panel" (I'm in 5.5 Brigantia):
