I've installed vlc media player however the package was in greek, I've tryed to search for a translation in the synaptic package manager but I haven't found none, is that possible an error during the compilation?
To be sure the package is in english, not in greek but it was written with the greek alphabet like in a transliteration (if the terms is correct :))
I've found it very amusing :), sure it was properly done :), it must have been a very tedious work :) for linguistic geek :)
Noone would help me? Please :'( I cannot use vlc in this manner
How exactly did you install it? Do you use 3rd party sources?
No, I've installed it simply by typing sudo apt-get install vlc
So which mirror do you use? E.g.cat /etc/apt/sources.list

I use the mirror in France

However I was able to choose it by editing sources.list file manually with vim, because the GUI "Software & Updates" doesn't change it, that's another error that I would have posted in the forum but I didn't :D, I hope to have changed the sources.list correctly; I've decided the mirror in France because is nearer than the one in the Netherland.
PS: Could you tell me how to post something in the forum in the yellow rectangle :D? That's more clear :).

I had to make a fresh installation for other reason and now this problem was solved... maybe it was caused by an error during the editing of the sources.list manually...
Even the GUI "Software & Updates" now works...
